Craig Jensen's profile

Center for Software History at the Computer History

As the founder and CEO of Condusiv Technologies (formerly Diskeeper Corporation), Craig Jensen guides an international software development firm responsible for products such as Diskeeper, the best-selling defragmentation software program of all time. An active member of the larger computer technology field, Craig Jensen supports nonprofit organizations such as the Computer History Museum.

Founded in 1979 in the Digital Equipment Corporation’s offices in Marlborough, Massachusetts, the Computer History Museum moved to its current home in Mountain View, California, in 2002. Over the past four decades, the museum has amassed a significant collection tracing the history of computing technology while hosting numerous exhibits and educational programs. The organization has also established the Center for Software History to further explore technology’s impact on society.

One of two research centers that operate under the museum’s auspices, the Center for Software History supports research and projects that seek to understand computer software’s evolution and its impact on global culture and human life. In addition to maintaining a vast database of landmark software code and rotating software-focused exhibits, the Center explores the first-hand narratives behind important software development through an oral history project.

The Center for Software History extends its human-centered focus through educational outreach programs such as Design_Code_Build, which brings together students from sixth through eighth grades for learning activities and lectures by software industry leaders.
